On August 1, 2018, was given the kick-off to Co-CerealValue, a project for the sustainable recovery of by-products from the processing and storage of cereals, which has a duration of 3 years, until July 2021. The project has the support of COMPETE 2020 under the Incentive Systems for Research and Technological Development in Co-Promotion, involving an eligible investment of 851 thousand euros and resulting in an ERDF incentive of around 546 thousand euros.
The company Silos de Leixões leads the consortium, which also involves the participation of another business entity in the cereal sector, Germen - Moagem de Cereais, and non-business entities in the area of science and engineering, the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia da Universidade Católica Portuguesa ( UCP) and INEGI - Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering.
This will be an ambitious project for the companies involved, on the one hand, to promote their economic growth, sustainability and their competitiveness in international markets and, on the other hand, for non-business entities to be challenged by the project, to reinforce the its capacity for innovation, scientific and technological, which can later be applied to other sectors of economic activity.
